Chisinau, Mai 28 ( INFOTAG ).

The Chairperson of the European Union’s delegation in the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, Marianne Mikko, has called upon the opposition Communist faction to resume attending Parliament plenary sittings.

Speaking at an international conference in Chisinau today, Mikke said that herself as well as other European officials are disappointed with the line of conduct the Communists have chosen with regard to the current parliamentary majority, and with their unwillingness to work in parliament. She stressed it is deputies’ direct duty to attend the forum’s plenary sittings and to represent their electorate’s interests.

Marianne Mikko said that the Communist faction is demonstrating with its behaviour that the party has failed to become a constructive parliamentary opposition, which regretful fact can bring nothing good to either the MCP or the republic as a whole.

Mikko said that despite a fairly complicated political situation in Moldova, Europe hopes for the best.

In her words, Moldova is the second largest (after Palestine) recipient of European Union investments. She expressed hope the political crisis will be overcome in the nearest future, and Moldova will be let develop economically and socially.

Marianne Mikko called upon the authorities and the opposition to take notice of the European Union’s recommendations and reach a consensus so as to overcome the political deadlock.
